Apple finally announced the all rumored iPhone SE 2020. It is just amazing that this phone has same processor as the iPhone 11 & 11 Pro. This is just the best midrange smartphone of this year. The reason to awarding this phone as best is, we cannot see a Flagship chipset which is powering $1,000 smartphones in this price bracket.
It is the biggest competition for the upcoming Pixel 4a in this price range. Pixel “a” offers flagship level camera image quality in midrange price as we have seen last year’s Pixel 3a.
iPhone SE 2020 has the same 4.7″ display as the classic design since iPhone 6. This display is a Retina IPS LCD same as iPhone 8 and has the resolution of (1334 x 750px) which creates 326 ppi density with old 16:9 aspect ratio. Its display also has a wide color gamut with True Tone feature and max brightness level of 625 nits. It has a 7MP selfie shooter with f/2.2 which max outs at 1080p 30fps.
SoC & Memory
The highlight feature is this phone is powered by A13 Bionic, with the HD resolution and smaller display this chip will fly the iPhone SE 2020. We don’t know the official amount of RAM yet but we assume it would be 3GB. We all know that Apple has the best optimized phones out there in terms of RAM, without any doubt. It comes with three storage options, 64/128/256GB.
It will run on iOS 13 out of the box and will get Software updates for 5 years easily. We know the reputation of Apple when it comes to OS updates of iPhones.
- IP 67 Dust/Water Resistance
- Stereo Speakers
- WiFi 6
- Touch ID
- 18W Fast Charging
- Qi Wireless Charging
iPhone SE has comes with a single camera setup which is justified at this price, It is a 12MP sensor with f/1.8 aperture. It is a bummer that it only supports portraits of persons and not of animals or objects. It is just a trade off that Apple typically makes in low price smartphones.
It does not have Night Mode feature which took iPhone SE’s camera capability far behind as the current Pixel 3a will easily beat iPhone in low light conditions.
Video output is very good as A13 will show its magic here, It can shoot 4K upto 60fps and 1080p upto 240fps. It also has extended HDR but capped at 4K 30fps.
It comes in Black, White & Red (Product Red), 64GB starts at $399, 128GB at $449 and the 256GB version at $549. The Product Red version’s sales will directly go to COVID-19 fund. Pre-orders starts on April 17 and shipping will begin on April 24.
