Google will use custom made Samsung’s Exynos chips in future devices, We could not say at the moment that in which kind of devices this chip Google will use. Currently Google is using two different kinds of chips in its Pixel devices, Pixel Visual Core for “image processing” and Titan M chip for “security”. So it may be true that Google will not use Qualcomm’s flagship in upcoming devices. It is also possible that this is the reason why Google might ditch Snapdragon 865 for upcoming Pixel 5 and use this custom Exynos in next year’s Pixel.
The word is spreading that the chipset will be based on 5nm LPE architecture. It will be an octa-core processor reportedly having two Cortex-A78 CPU cores, two Cortex-A76 CPU cores, and four low performance Cortex-A55 CPU cores.
Google will reportedly use its own special ISP and NPU with above configuration. This chipset could use an unannounced Mali MP20 GPU. Google was even considering to make its own chip from the scratch, It is possible that Google could use this chip in upcoming Chromebooks like Apple will ditch Intel’s chips in a year or two. There is no denying in that today’s mobile chips are on par with Intel’s U series in terms of performance.
