Samsung delayed its 3nm chips manufacturing

As we know that everything in every industry got affected by COVID-19 around the world. Many tech companies including Samsung closed their stores and manufacturing plants due to overwhelmingly spread of the virus now the Korean giant is forced to delay their 3nm chips mass production to 2022.

This year Samsung’s Exynos 990 was built on 7nm+ and to put things into perspective a human hair is approximately 80,000- 100,000 nano-meters wide and the production of chips is quite expensive and complicated. Samsung had a target to mass produce it’s 3nm chips by 2021, but now it is not possible for the company to produce chips until 2022.
Taiwan’s TSMC is the main competitor of Samsung in terms of producing chips as TSMC is the main manufacturer of Apple’s A series of processors. It will be a major breakthrough for the tech industry when 3nm chips will power our future smartphones.
